| [ | How I'm Feeling |
| | content | ] | I do this for the cats that know how to react When they hear "fuck you" on the track They scream "fuck you" back Cause this is so much more than rap It's Plain flesh And Plastination is the name of the crew That's got my back
We don't roll deep in the club We cut deep through these streets and leave them painted with blood
Straight to the heart of the matter In a world where you're lucky if your brain's the only thing that's scattered
In a town where you're luck if your hearts the only pitter patter That you hear at the age of sixteen And not followed by tears and a grown woman's screams Or started with tears and a young girl's heaves
That's why I do this for the cats that know how to react When they hear fuck you on the track They scream fuck you back
Brutally aware of the fact That LIFE is so much more than rap... It ain't easy. |

| the hold steady - Cattle and the Creeping Things |
[Oct. 13th, 2005|08:51 pm] |
they got to the part with the cattle and the creeping things. they said i'm pretty sure we've heard this one before. don't it all end up in some revelation? with 4 guys on horses, and violent red visions famine and death and pestilence and war. i'm pretty sure i heard this one before. you in the corner with a good looking drifter. two cups of coffee and ten packs of sugar. i heard gideon saw you in denver. he said you're contagious. silly rabbit. tripping is for teenagers. murder is for murderers. and hard drugs are for bartenders. i think i might have mentioned that before.
he's got the pages in his pockets that he ripped out of the bible from his bedstand in the motel. he likes the part where the traders get chased out from the temple. i guess i heard about original sin. i heard the dude blamed the chick. i heard the chick blamed the snake. i heard they were naked when they got busted. i heard things ain't been the same since. you on the streets with a tendency to preach to the choir. wired for sound and down with whatever. i heard gideon did you in denver.
she's got a cross around her neck that she ripped off from a schoolgirl in the subway on a visit to the city. she likes how it looks on her chest with three open buttons. she likes the part where one brother kills the other. she has to wonder if the the world ever will recover. because cain and abel seem to still be causing trouble.
she said: i was seeing double for 3 straight days after i got born again it felt strange but it was nice and peaceful. it really pleased me to be around so many people. of course half were just visions but half of them were friend from going thru the program with me. later on we did some sexy things. took a couple photographs and carved them into wood reliefs. but that's enough about me. tell me how you got down here into your city.
he said: i got thru the part about the exodus. up to then i only knew it was a movement of the people. but if small town cops are like swarms of flies and if blackened foil is like boils and hail. then i'm pretty sure we've been thru this before. and it seemed like a simple place to score. then some old lady came to the door and said mckenzie phillips doesn't live here anymore. |

| | the jam - I Got By In Time | ] | Finally have internet access again. I've been out of the loop for a minute. Got to see a free living legends show today. They were all there, it was free and there were only fifty people in the crowd. Pretty sick. I'm back at Northridge attending school 2 days a week. I work 4 of the other days. Wednesday is my only day off. I moved into a house on Inglewood and Jefferson with my old neighbors. My mom's selling her house to fund her defense. Feel proud if you made it to my party. There won't be another one. It's gonna be interesting living with chicks. I'm incredibly broke nowadays. Hot chicks make class more interesting. |

I just got a job at Borders Books on Westwood. The pay's shitty but I get a 33% book discount, which is useful. Now they can be happy in knowing that they'll get most of my pay back.
Damn, I remember when I had a camera and was friends with Kristen, I wonder what happened ?
Finally bought a Roland Fantom X6. It's incredibly tight.
I also bought Emulator X Studio. It's a PCI Card and I think I killed my comp trying to install it.
Musical productivity is up. Sitting on my ass time is down. |

I don't understand some people...
I feel like I'm getting old. I'm only 20, but, I feel like I have to worry about staying healthy now... And, I'm upset with the fact that my first serious girlfriend (assuming I ever have one) could be my last... I've got a lot of cool ideas for the future right now... My current plan:
* Finish Plastination EP * Do some local touring * Finish Plastination LP * Do some slighty less local touring * Establish Plain Flesh Recordings * Sign great local talent * Open the Plain Flesh store * Open the Plain Flesh gallery * Establish Venice as a cultural and musical Mecca in Los Angeles once again
** Sometime in there I wanna buy a Wakeboat... and some Jet Skis...
The benefit of feeling like death is nipping at my heels is that it keeps me on my toes...there's no time to waste...You want to do something with your life, right? |

| Los Angeles I'm yours..... |
[Mar. 7th, 2005|12:01 pm] |
I might have posted this before but fuck it ...
Last night I met a town That I didn't recognize Couldn't tell if it was me Or the look in her eyes But the second that she smiled I felt the hook set in Knowing it's not often You get a second chance to begin And if the smile I returned Seemed to wear a little thin It's cause I've alwats been the type That knew good things have to end
But I rolled with the new Took her up on her offer Hoped her hard physique Guarded a heart a little softer And that gleam in her eyes Didn't hide a sad side If she's holding back tears Then I'm not her type of guy
But I doubt it I think she's More the type of girl Where a simple hair twirl Shows you a glimpse of the world Where a quick flesh Makes you wonder what's next And by the time you look up You feel lips on your neck
So we set a date And parted with a kiss I had her hair in my fist And she bit my lip
And I know that might seem kinda sick
But she's my kinda town I think I love that chick! |

Atmosphere sold out the Troub in LA two months in advance!! That's insane!!
I've seen em everytime they've come to LA for the last 7 years but I guess I'm gonna have to miss it this year...
It's a bittersweet thing.
It's good that their popularity's growing...
The Troubador's a much smaller venue (it's actually my favorite) than any other's they've played in LA recently.
I'm surprised they didnt go for the Henry Fonda again. |

Unfortunately, Kristen Kaub has my camera and wont give it back!
I'm currently the poorest dude in the game... The cable's off at my apartment and electricity is on the way... I've got a shit load of comics i have to buy that the store owner's holding for me... My car has a boot on it... I owe Quail 30 dollars and Johnny 40... I'm stuck eating bacon sandwiches and cup of noodles... I've only got the bacon cause I jacked it from my mom...
And to top it all off I work 25 hours a week and make no money...at all |
